Spread over 6.54 square miles, Secaucus has a population of over 16,000 and is present within the New Jersey Meadowlands. This town from Hudson County in New Jersey state derives its name from the Algonquian words for ‘black’ and ‘snake’, which makes its literal translation as ‘place of snakes’. It has this name due to the presence of Snake Hill in the southern part of the town, near the New Jersey Turnpike.

While most of the parts of Secaucus have light manufacturing and retail outlets, this town also has a large number of small-sized and large-sized single-family houses.
