West New York is the second-most densely populated municipality in the United States of America, as the town has over 53,000 people living in an area of 1.33 square miles. The town of West New York is located in the northern part of Hudson County in New Jersey, above the New Jersey Palisades.
The formation of West New York as a town happened by an act of the New Jersey Legislature in 1898 when it replaced Union Township based on the results of a referendum. Thanks to the massive development in the town due to emerging textile industries, West New York became one of the most desirable places in New Jersey. This development also led to the establishment of high-rise apartments along Boulevard East and then in other parts of the town, which still are an integral part of Hudson County real estate.
Located in the heart of the North Hudson, West New York belongs to the New York metropolitan area and shares its border with North Bergen, Guttenberg, Union City, Weehawken and New York City boroughs. Bergenline Avenue in West New York is one of the busiest commercial places in the town.
