About Alpine, NJ Real Estate Market

One of the smallest boroughs in the eastern part of Bergen County in New Jersey state, Alpine is located 9.4 miles towards the north of Manhattan. Spread over 9.22 square miles, Alpine is a low-populated borough with just around 2,000 people as its residents, so homes for sale in this part of New Jersey are not so frequently available.

The town of Alpine was formed by the portions of Harrington Township in 1903 and Cresskill in 1904, under an act of the New Jersey Legislature introduced in 1903. The credits behind the naming of the town as Alpine goes to the wife of a renowned journalist Charles Nordhoff, who believed that the geographical setting of the town looked very similar to the Swiss Alps.
